EFI
While the qjet is working pretty well, I've always been enticed by proper sequential multiport injection. Here is the current plan:
ECU:
AEM Infinity. Mark Remmel, cutlassefi, is an AEM dealer and provides good support. Looks like the AEM has the broadest flexibility of the various aftermarket units. Fingers are crossed that I can mount the ECU in a core support well. I'm thinking in front of the right wheel where the fuel filter and regulator currently sit.
Intake:
I picked up a Performer RPM with bungs and rails from Mark. Plan is to run it with dummy injectors and the qjet to make sure it actually seals. Note that the bungs are a little big, so need to use the conversion o-rings from Lingenfelter. Set up for typical 2.88" injector.
Throttle body:
The intake came with the cheapy Procomp 4150 throttle body (aka PCE138.1002 - don't bother, there's absolutely no documentation out there for it), which is a partial ripoff of the Accufab unit. Cheap, squeaks, but appears to be functional. Sits on a 1" spacer so the TV hookup clears the fuel rail. It has 3 1/8" NPT vacuum ports - all manifold.
Throttle linkage:
The IAC sticks out the back so can't use normal rear brackets like I currently have. Fuel rail is huge so can't use the Holley style side brackets. The single-bolt-mount brackets give me the willies. I tried the Lokar XTCB-40EDK (Edelbock Pro-Flo kit). The Pro-flo is supposedly a 4150 TB, but the spacer is a trapezoid shape. But it uses a bracket bolted to the spacer on the rear. I'll fabricate a similar bracket to hang off the back.
Injectors:
Looks like 30 to 36 lb/hr are the right size for my ~450hp engine. There's only a few aftermarket options that small. The OEM are sickly beige or ugly blue. Leaning towards AFIS 36lb/hr units right now.
Fuel:
The in-tank pump and main lines are good. Need a filter that can take the pressure and a high pressure regulator. The Fuelab mini looks nice - inline, probably mount straight to the fuel rail. Also planning on going rail to rail in sequence - not doing anything interesting enough to need parallel feed.
Charcoal purge:
The qjet uses a metered ported vacuum for canister purge, with a 1/4" line. The Procomp TB has no similar provision. Looks like I'll need to use a late model approach with a purge solenoid that opens at the appropriate times (engine warm, part throttle). The solenoid and the canister free-flow, so I need some kind of flow restriction in a 1/4" tube.
