Letting the Lead Out

I tried out the lead-free body solder from Eastwood and had some quick success:

It does take a bit of practice but it's really quick. I also started stripping the paint. I had initially hoped to just leave all the paint as-is and leave that up to the shop that does the paint. Now I'm thinking I'm probably better off stripping myself and laying down some epoxy to protect it. Always plenty of time to redo stuff.

Otherwise I put on the carb I rebuilt last weekend. Sure enough, it didn't idle worth a damn - vastly lean. That validated that all my idle circuit mods really are necessary.

There was also a post from one guy with a 455 with the same cam - got 450 HP and 650(!!) Ftlb. That gives me some optimism to hit my 400/450 goal.
