Firewall in, pretty belly

Got the firewall welded in over the past couple of weekends. Did some more lead and bondo work to it, then painted it late last night! This was my first time working with a real spray gun. Quite certain I don't really understand how to set it up yet, but the paint laid down pretty nice. Looking forward to seeing it in the light! I used Eastwood epoxy primer and Urethane Chassis Black. Both are actually Kirker products, and their tech sheets are much more useful than anything Eastwood puts out.

I also got 40+ years of mud and crud off the bottom of the body and painted the bad bits with POR-15, then two coats of Rustoleum. Looks pretty good! Took four cans. My face was literally black except where the respirator was. Looked hilarious.

Of course I goofed in two ways: I started sanding the bondo on the firewall before it was dry, so its texture got all messed up. It's obvious on there. :(

Also, I painted the belly before the POR was cured enough, so the thicker parts cracked open. Still completely solid and not going anywhere, just cracked. :(

At this point there should just be some touch up on the belly, the last bits that started rusting on the chassis, cleaning the wheel wells and the interior, then the body goes on! If the stars align then that'll happen this weekend.
