Assembly update

It was a busy weekend at the OsterShop!

The final accessory bits were painted and installed on the engine.

Still waiting on one head bolt, the correct spark plug wires (oops) and a few odds and ends to put it all together. The valley tray took some more modifications due to my rather unique mounting, but that wasn't a big deal. It's smooth sailing at this point!

Shaun spent a massive amount of time on the Crazy Tank Mod. I had to make a new cage for the pump, as I'm hanging the fuel level sender from my gauge kit on it. It also had to be offset to one side as the tank is too shallow to have the lid right over the pump. That was the easy part.

Shaun got that welded into the tank, and started on the "pan mod". Lots of time stitching that in.

I tried to clean it up and close up the last few holes, but really just made it worse. So I've got a lot to learn about welding!

Shaun also built a fantastic break-in stand:

The parts car came with an el-cheapo electric pump, so I wired that in. So there's a boat gas tank that feeds the pump which then goes to my gigantic Fram fuel filter and pressure regulator then to a teflon hose up to the new AN fitting for the carb. Sounds professional, looks redneck. Perfect. Don't try this at home.

Hoping to finish the assembly on Friday and fire this thing up on Saturday.

Lots more pictures in the Picassa 403 Build album.
